Being a rather old-souled Brit, I have been craving a traditional afternoon tea for a while now. Lucky for me, The Langham, Sydney offers a pretty kick-ass high tea.
The Langham’s Afternoon Tea With Wedgewood is set in the hotel’s gorgeous Palm Court, which is decked out with elegant teal and citrus gold furnishings, and has beautiful views of Sydney Harbour (if you sit in the right seat).
The menu is currently curated around an Alice and Wonderland theme and includes Queen of Hearts raspberry cake slices, clock face macaroons and funky little magic mushroom chocolate orange tarts. They’re little works of art created by esteemed pastry chef Cherish Finden.
The savoury morsels are delicious too – there are sumptuous avocado and crab ‘ice-cream’ cones, irresistible beef sliders and scrambled egg sandwiches made with deep brown rye bread.
It’s all served on fragile Wedgewood crockery and is just about the right level of decadence for a once-in-a-while treat.
